We've decided to keep the worms for our entire pod this year! Every week, a new student will responsible for bringing in food for the worms and caring for their habitat. Here is a list of what the worms can eat:
Raw fruits and vegetables (cucumber, lettuce, broccoli, etc.) Please no citrus fruits, they give the worms a stomach ache!
Grass clippings and fallen leaves
coffee grounds
egg shells, only if sanitized and crushed to very fine pieces.
Please no meat, dairy, bread, or processed (packaged) foods.
We are all excited to have the chance to watch part of the food web process in our own classroom. The students will gain a thorough understanding of how even the smallest organisms contribute to our well being and survival.
