I don't know about all of you but I am loving this snow! Most of the kids seemed excited too. We had a great week full of lovely literature, fun fractions, and spectacular social studies!
Here's what's going on next week:
Language Arts: We will continue with unit 4, "Recognizing Author's Point of View." Some students are reading a novel and others are working on a couple of plays. Your child may mention that they need to make a prop or costume. No rush, we have a couple of weeks. The students are also learning about writing an opinion piece.
Math: We've started unit 4, adding fractions with unlike denominators. We have worked hard on hand drawing fractions and understanding the relationships of fractions with unlike denominators. Here are a couple of pictures of a game we played called "Make a Whole!" Next week we will practice using fraction strips and drawings to solve addition and subtraction problems of fractions with unlike denominators.

Social Studies: We researched the natural resources of the 113 colonies and created a map for our interactive notebooks.
I am developing our next project and should have the information ready to send home next week.
Important Dates:
January 21: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, No School
