Hello!
Next week is Read Across America week. Here's what's going on each day.
Monday: Wear Silly Socks!
Tuesday: Wear Stripes!
Wednesday: Wear a Souvenir Shirt!
Thursday: Wear Green!
Friday: Wear Your Spirit Wear!
Book Swap!
Next week, students may bring in up to 5 books that they no longer read. For every book the student brings, he or she will choose a new (used) book that another student has donated to swap. The swap will happen during recess and lunch on Friday. It has been explained to the students that they should show the books to their parents and get permission before bringing them to school and giving them away.
Here's what's going on in class.
Language Arts: We've been reading about how advancements in technology have changed people's lives over time. We've been reading and writing poetry and reading longer informative texts as well.
We will wrap up unit 5 Next week and start Unit 6. Unit 6 is a literature unit on survival. I'm really looking forward to it!
Math: Students got some work back today. I asked them to show their families and explain what they are doing and how to do it. We will continue to multiply fractions and will add in mixed numbers next week.
Science: This week we learned about scientific models. We will take a break from science next week to work on social studies. Check out our cool (or warm) science investigation from this week!
Social Studies: We will continue our colonies unit and learn about the government and economy of the 13 colonies.
